We are thrilled to announce that the FINE-made SERA Architects website has been recognized as a standout digital experience, beating the global competition to win Best Architecture Website at the 28th annual WebAwards. The distinguished Best of Industry award honors a single website in each field for exceptional digital work that pushes the boundaries of creativity and functionality.
Of course, inspired creative and innovative functionality are central to SERA’s approach to sustainable placemaking, so our agency knew the digital transformation would need to reflect that. Here’s a recap of the work and the website.
The Award-Winning Website
100% employee-owned, SERA is well known for shaping its hometown of Portland, Oregon. With the stated purpose of improving daily lives and cultural pillars around sustainability, diversity, restoration, and responsibility, the firm’s website needed to combine these ingredients to create a digital experience that was as bright, uplifting, and celebratory as the brand itself.
With future and current employees as its primary audience and potential clients as secondary, the site needed to communicate excellence in design, a rich and diverse culture, and a commitment to sustainable and responsible placemaking. The site structure elevates user intent/interests with subtle variations in navigation, like shifting from the expected “Services” or “Sectors” to the more bespoke “Specialties” section and bringing humans forward with a title like “People” rather than “About.” A card system intermingles content on people, project, and culture to keep guests immersed in exploration while highlighting the firm’s intersectional approach. Messaging and visuals bring it all together, reinforcing SERA’s brand pillars and promise.
